Yacht'UP is the workshop of master marine engineer Karsten Hertrich — built on German training, three decades in Palma, and a simple rule: the bosses still work on the boats.
01 The founder
From Blohm + Voss to Palma.
Karsten Hertrich caught the marine-engineering bug during his mechanical engineering studies at Blohm + Voss in Hamburg — working on MAN engines up to 50,000 CV and megayachts including the Lady Moura. He spent around six years there before moving through Volvo Penta to Yanmar as workshop chief.
Once he'd earned his Master of Naval Mechanical Engineering, the official MAN and ZF service in Palma took a keen interest — the nudge that brought him to Mallorca. After six years there as a subcontractor, he has led his own company since 1998.
Over thirty years of accumulated knowledge now passes to his technicians, so the same standard reaches every boat. And after all these years around yachts, Karsten still visits clients and still gets his hands dirty in the engine room — the office side held down, throughout, by his wife.
02 Philosophy
Quality over quantity — for us it's a matter of honour.
Whether it's a quick look around your engine room before a passage or changing a piston in high season, the work is meticulous. If both sides aren't satisfied — which, happily, is rare — we talk it through. A smile after the invoice, on both faces: that's the goal.

Where we'd rather spend the money.
Yacht'UP has never needed to advertise — clients have always been the best advertising. So instead of ad budgets, we invest in the workshop: special tooling, dedicated transmission equipment, and continuous training. We're proud of a facility that's hard to find the equal of.
